GTA 6 is coming to two platforms: PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar lists them in all of the game’s official materials.
Digital and physical versions
You can pre-order the digital version and pre-load it from November 12. The physical edition is a box with a download code inside. It also goes on sale November 12, so there’s time to download the game before launch.
Frame rate
On consoles, the game currently runs at 30 frames per second, as Rob Nelson, co-studio head at Rockstar North, confirmed. The studio hasn’t decided whether there will be a performance mode with a higher frame rate. The Extended Look was captured on a standard PS5, not a PS5 Pro.
Why there are no PS4 or Xbox One versions
Rockstar hasn’t explained why it skipped the previous console generation. The likely reason is technical: PS5 and Xbox Series X|S have SSDs and much more powerful processors, which makes a game of this scale easier to build for them. That’s our editorial assessment.
PC version
Rockstar hasn’t announced a date for the PC version, and every timeline you’ll find online is a prediction. More in “Is GTA 6 coming to PC?”.
