Is GTA 6 coming to PS4 or Xbox One?

No. GTA 6 launches on November 19, 2026 only on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. There is no version for PS4, PS4 Pro, Xbox One or Xbox One X, and Rockstar hasn’t hinted at one.

What Rockstar and Take-Two say

Rockstar has named the same two platforms since Trailer 1 in December 2023 (Rockstar Newswire) and in every pre-order announcement since. Take-Two’s own release schedule, published with its quarterly results, lists Grand Theft Auto VI for “PS5, Xbox Series X|S” (Take-Two). The claim that GTA 6 is coming to last-gen consoles is marked false in our fact registry (fact).

Why PS4 and Xbox One were left out

Rockstar hasn’t explained. The likely reason is technical. The PS4 and Xbox One came out in 2013 with hard drives and much slower processors, while GTA 6 leans on what the new consoles do well. Digital Foundry says Rockstar balanced processor and graphics work to saturate the PS5’s hardware, which is why it doubts even a 60 fps mode on current consoles (fact).

What about PS4 Pro and Xbox One X?

Same answer. They’re upgraded versions of the same generation and run PS4 and Xbox One games, not PS5 or Series X|S games.

Fakes to watch out for

In June a screenshot claiming GTA 6 takes up 676.7 GB spread online. Insider Gaming judged it likely fake, partly because it offered an install on Xbox One, where the game isn’t coming (Insider Gaming). Sites offering GTA 6 “for PS4” are the same scams as the “free downloads” (how to download GTA 6).

If you have a PS4 or Xbox One

Any PS5 model or any Xbox Series console runs the game, including the cheapest Xbox Series S. How they compare is in our best console for GTA 6 guide, and the full list of platforms, including Switch 2 rumors, is in GTA 6 platforms and GTA 6 on Switch 2.
