Will GTA 6 run on PS5 Slim and PS5 Digital Edition?

Yes. GTA 6 is a PS5 game, and it runs on every PS5 model: the original, the Slim, the Digital Edition and the PS5 Pro. The Slim isn’t a weaker console, and the Digital Edition doesn’t miss out on the boxed version, because that box contains a code, not a disc.

The same game on every PS5

When Sony introduced the slimmer PS5 in October 2023, it said the same technology was packed into a smaller form factor, with a 1 TB SSD and a detachable disc drive (PlayStation Blog). Rockstar captured the Extended Look on a standard PS5, where Digital Foundry measured native 1440p at a stable 30 fps (fact). The PS5 Pro is marked PS5 Pro Enhanced in the store, though Rockstar hasn’t said what changes on it (fact).

Digital Edition and the boxed game

Rockstar Support says the boxed version holds a download code and no disc (Rockstar Support). That means a Digital Edition owner can buy the box too: redeem the code and the game downloads like any digital purchase. One catch: PlayStation codes only work on accounts from the same region (fact).

Storage: the thing to check

• Original PS5: 825 GB SSD (PlayStation Blog).
• PS5 Slim, with or without a disc drive: 1 TB SSD.
• Usable space is smaller than the label on both, because the system takes its share.

Rockstar hasn’t published GTA 6’s size, and the 750 GB and 676.7 GB figures online aren’t confirmed (how big GTA 6 is). Free up space before the pre-load opens on November 12 (pre-load guide).

A PlayStation Store database tracker reported 210 GB on October 27; Rockstar hasn’t confirmed it (rumor).

Which PS5 to buy for GTA 6

For this game the models differ in storage and price, not in whether they can run it. The comparison with PS5 Pro and Xbox is in best console for GTA 6.
