On August 27, 2026, Rockstar showed 26 minutes of GTA 6, first on Netflix and then, that evening, on YouTube and the game’s website. Everything was captured in-game on a standard PlayStation 5. The details below are confirmed by several breakdowns of the video or by the developers themselves.

Wanted level and criminal profile

  • The wanted meter goes up to six stars again, as in the classic entries. GTA 5 had five.
  • The police remember what the protagonist looks like: clothes, appearance, car. Changing clothes helps shake a pursuit, you can torch the car, and you can hide in a trunk.
  • On top of the stars there’s a criminal profile: it tracks the protagonist’s actions and doesn’t reset along with the wanted level.

Two protagonists

  • You can switch between Jason and Lucia almost anytime with a single button. Some missions limit the choice.
  • The couple’s relationship is a mechanic of its own: according to Rockstar, it affects how the story unfolds and how it ends.
  • The protagonists text each other, and it’s worth replying.

Shooting, car theft and driving

  • Firefights are built around cover, and weapons can be picked up off the ground quickly.
  • Stealing a car is a lock-picking minigame, and newer cars with electronic locks need a key cloner.
  • Breakdowns of the video note that cars handle more realistically than in GTA 5: they brake harder and grip corners better.

Your look depends on your lifestyle

Feed your character fast food and they put on weight; hit the gym and they build muscle. Sleepless nights and constant chases show on their face.

Things to do

The video shows basketball, car and dirt bike races, diving, kayaking, fishing, a shooting range, a gym, hunting and backyard wrestling.

What the developers said

  • Rob Nelson, co-studio head at Rockstar North, said his own playthrough took about 80 hours, covering the story and some optional content.
  • The single-player game will have no microtransactions and no generative AI. Asked about real-money purchases, Nelson said there’s no monetization at all.
  • On consoles, the game currently runs at 30 frames per second. The studio hasn’t decided yet whether there will be a performance mode.

What’s still unclear

The developers didn’t say when an online mode will arrive: Rockstar still calls GTA 6 a single-player game (what we know about GTA Online). It’s also unclear how freely the systems shown work outside scripted scenes. All the videos in order are in our trailer timeline.
