GTA 6 launches on November 19 as a single-player game, and Take-Two doesn’t expect players to spend money inside it at launch. Strauss Zelnick, the company’s chairman and CEO, said so at Take-Two’s annual meeting of stockholders on September 17, 2026.
Single-player at launch
Zelnick called GTA 6 “a single-player title” coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S and said Take-Two anticipates no recurrent consumer spending from this launch. That is the company’s term for money players spend after buying a game: virtual currency, add-ons and in-game items. Rockstar had already said the single-player game has no microtransactions.
13 languages
The game will be localized into 13 languages at launch, including Spanish, Portuguese and the major European languages. Zelnick called that typical for the company’s big releases. He didn’t list all 13 at the meeting.
What happens to GTA Online
The current GTA Online, which runs on GTA 5, “continues to be a robust business,” Zelnick said, and Take-Two will keep supporting it. He didn’t say when GTA 6 gets its own online mode. Twitch CEO Dan Clancy expects it in 2027, but neither Rockstar nor Take-Two has confirmed that: the rumor and where it comes from.
PC
Zelnick said the PC platform is becoming more and more important to the company and that Take-Two aims to release on platforms with a meaningful audience. He gave no date for a GTA 6 PC version. For now the game is announced only for consoles; more in “Is GTA 6 coming to PC?”.
Marketing
Specific marketing plans will come from Rockstar, Zelnick said, adding that the footprint will be very significant. A day earlier, at a GamesBeat event in New York, he explained why a game everyone knows still needs heavy promotion: “Awareness is one thing; enthusiasm is another thing.” Marketing, in his words, can’t make a bad game look good.
Zelnick also reminded shareholders that GTA 5, released in 2013, has sold more than 230 million copies and has stayed among the five best-selling games for 13 years.
