On October 13, 2026, GamesBeat reported that Rockstar plans to release the PC version of GTA 6 in the first quarter of 2027, between January and March (fact in the registry). The outlet cites four industry sources familiar with the studio’s plans, who asked not to be named. Rockstar didn’t respond to a request for comment and still hasn’t announced a PC version: on November 19, 2026 the game comes out only on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

According to the report, the PC version will have to meet the same quality bar as the console one before Rockstar releases it. GamesBeat explains the timing with money and role-play. PC players would widen the audience of a very expensive game, and FiveM, the role-play framework whose team Rockstar bought in August 2023 as Cfx.re, runs only on PC. Twitch chief executive Dan Clancy expects GTA 6’s online mode next year (what is known about it), and GamesBeat sees a PC release as a precondition for role-play servers.

Rockstar usually makes PC players wait much longer:

  • GTA 5: consoles in September 2013, PC in April 2015, 19 months later
  • Red Dead Redemption 2: consoles in October 2018, PC in November 2019, 13 months later

At Take-Two’s annual meeting on September 17, Strauss Zelnick said the PC platform is becoming more and more important to the company and that Take-Two aims to release games where there is a meaningful audience. He gave no date (what else he said).

Until now the 2027 expectation came only from comparisons with past releases. This is the first specific report about the PC date, from a business outlet with four sources, so we label it a reliable source. It is still not an announcement: plans can change, and Rockstar has already moved the console release twice. Until Rockstar announces the PC version there are no system requirements either.
