Rockstar hasn’t announced when GTA 6 gets an online mode. The 2027 date comes from Dan Clancy, the CEO of Twitch, who doesn’t speak for Rockstar or Take-Two.
What Clancy said
Clancy spoke to Bloomberg at the Tokyo Game Show on September 17. He expects a big jump in Twitch viewers when GTA 6 launches and “an even bigger one next year when they launch multiplayer.” He also said Twitch had spent a lot of time talking with Rockstar about its plans, as the platform prepares streamers for the launch.
Bloomberg reported the 2027 timing as what Clancy anticipates. He didn’t say Rockstar gave him a date.

What Rockstar and Take-Two have said
Take-Two says GTA 6 launches on November 19 as a single-player game. At the annual meeting on the same day as the interview, Strauss Zelnick gave no date for online play and said the current GTA Online on GTA 5 keeps getting support. What else Zelnick said.
Our take
A 2027 launch would mean a longer wait than before. GTA Online went live two weeks after GTA 5 in 2013, and the Red Dead Online beta opened about a month after Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2018.
