A wanted level starts only when a witness sees the crime, an alarm goes off or a camera records you. The police then know what you look like, what you wear and what you drive, and icons under the stars show which of these they have. A new haircut, a full change of clothes, a mask during the crime or another car cut the heat; if the police have no description, the stars are hollow outlines.
The scale returns to six stars. One star is easy to lose; from three stars up, narrow streets and dense traffic make car escapes in the city hard. Jason and Lucia can split up, and according to Esquire, when one of them is out, it ends for both. During a chase the police don’t show on the radar.
