Who plays Jason in GTA 6? The Dylan Rourke theory and the actors who said no

Rockstar hasn’t named the actor behind Jason Duval. The name fans repeat most is Dylan Rourke, based on resemblance and voice, and he hasn’t commented. Two better-known actors whose names came up have publicly said it isn’t them.

What has Rockstar said about Jason’s actor?

Nothing. On its People and Places page Rockstar tells Jason’s story: a childhood among grifters, a fresh start in the army, then work for Brian Heder in the Leonida Keys. No performer is credited, and our Jason Duval page leaves the actor field empty until someone is confirmed.

The one confirmed cast member is in Jason’s storyline, which confuses some readers. Stephen Root plays Brian, the man Jason works for, according to Variety. Sharing scenes with Jason says nothing about who plays him.

Why do fans think it’s Dylan Rourke?

Rourke is a TV actor with credits including Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19. PCGamesN calls him the frontrunner and lists the fans’ reasons: he looks and sounds a lot like Jason, he and Manni L. Perez (the favorite for Lucia) are said to have followed each other before the first trailer, and some of his videos on Vimeo disappeared as the theory grew. Each point is circumstantial.

The theory travels as a pair with the one about Perez. That makes it feel stronger than it is: if one half turns out wrong, the other doesn’t become any more likely. The Perez half already took a hit when her supposed Instagram confirmation proved to be a fake account.

Who voices Jason? The actors who denied it

After the first trailer, some fans thought they heard Troy Baker. He denied it and said whoever voices Jason should get the credit for the work. After the second trailer, Roger Craig Smith got the same question and answered “Nope. Not me.” Both are quoted by PCGamesN.

Roger Clark, who played Arthur Morgan in Red Dead Redemption 2, was asked about fans comparing Jason with Arthur. He told Collider that comparisons are inevitable with Rockstar’s next game but “it’s hard to say until we actually get a go at it,” and said he isn’t in GTA 6 “to my knowledge.”

Voice and on-screen performance can come from different people in a game. GTA 6’s story scenes were shot with full performance capture, which suggests one actor for both, but only the credits will say.

How to judge the next Jason rumor

1. Look for a statement from the actor or Rockstar that names Jason. A résumé line about an unnamed game isn’t one.
2. Check the date. A two-year-old video that resurfaces after a new trailer adds no new evidence.
3. Check the account behind any “confirmation.” The fake Perez profile fooled real news sites.

When will Jason’s actor be revealed?
