Stephen Root has confirmed he’s in GTA 6. When the Associated Press asked him in mid-September, the actor answered: “Yeah, you’re gonna see me in there!” He is the first cast member to confirm a role publicly.
Who Brian Heder is
Rockstar describes Brian Heder as a drug runner from the golden age of smuggling in the Keys who still moves product through his boat yard with his third wife, Lori. He lets Jason live rent-free in one of his houses as long as Jason helps collect money around the area. Variety reported that Root plays this drug trafficker from the Leonida Keys.
Fans knew already
Players matched Root’s voice to Brian when Rockstar introduced the character, and Root knows it. He told the AP that his character was there in the first rollout almost a year ago.
Root is best known as the voice of Bill Dauterive in King of the Hill and as Milton in Office Space.
Why the rest of the cast is quiet
Rockstar hasn’t published a cast list. In an episode released on September 16, the GTA VI O’Clock podcast reported that Rockstar reminded actors their NDAs let them announce their involvement only from November 19. Rockstar hasn’t confirmed the message, so treat it as a rumor. Other possible cast members that fans found through acting résumés and casting sites are unconfirmed too.
