GTA 6 release date: November 19, 2026, and the history of delays

GTA 6 launches November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Before that, the release slipped twice: from 2025 to May 26, 2026, and then to November.

Rockstar Games has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI launches on November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

When does GTA 6 come out?

On Thursday, November 19, 2026. That date appears in all of Rockstar’s official materials. The game was originally due out earlier, but the studio moved the release twice. Rockstar explained the second delay by saying it needed the extra months to deliver the level of polish players expect.

History of delays

  • December 5, 2023: first trailer, release promised for 2025
  • May 2, 2025: delayed to May 26, 2026
  • November 6, 2025: delayed to November 19, 2026
  • June 25, 2026: pre-orders open

Pre-orders and pre-loading

Pre-orders have been open since June 25, 2026, and besides the Standard Edition there’s an Ultimate Edition. You can pre-load the digital version from November 12, so you can play on day one. The details are in our piece on GTA 6 editions and pre-orders.

PC version

Rockstar hasn’t announced a date for the PC version. The studio usually releases PC versions after the console ones. More in “Is GTA 6 coming to PC?”.
