GTA 6 is already moving numbers well outside games. The clearest example is the Extended Look: 31.1 million Netflix views in four days. Each figure below names who measured it and what it covers.
Netflix
Netflix counted 31.1 million views of Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look from August 27 to 30, which made it the most watched title on the service that week. For the first six hours the video was on Netflix alone; then Rockstar put it on YouTube.
Those six hours brought Netflix more than 100,000 new US subscribers, according to Ampere Analysis. Only the final season of Stranger Things and the Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano fight drew more sign-ups in 2026. Ampere also found that more than 5% of US members who hadn’t watched anything in the previous 30 days came back for the Extended Look, the highest such rate of any title in that period.
Consoles in the UK
In the week after the broadcast, PlayStation 5 sales in the UK rose 33% and Xbox Series X|S sales rose 34%, according to NielsenIQ. Nintendo Switch 2 sales rose by a similar margin, though GTA 6 isn’t announced for it. So the data shows the timing of the jump, not proof that GTA 6 caused all of it.
PS5 Pro
On the UK price comparison site idealo, demand for the PS5 Pro rose 348% in the week GTA 6 pre-orders opened in late June, and demand for the PS5 Slim rose 38%. After the Extended Look, PS5 Pro demand jumped another 144%. idealo measures interest on its own site, not store sales.
Pre-orders
The research firm Sensor Tower estimated 4.38 million pre-orders worth $429 million by August 18, 77% of them on PS5 and 23% on Xbox Series X|S. Take-Two calls pre-orders unprecedented but hasn’t published a figure (GameSpot). After the Extended Look, daily pre-orders jumped 436% compared with the day before, according to Sensor Tower data reported by Notebookcheck.
Music and events
The first six songs from the GTA VI album drew 4.1 million Spotify streams in 24 hours (more on the album). At Tokyo Game Show, numbered tickets for the GTA 6 theater ran out almost at once (the theater).
