As of October 8, 2026, neither Xbox nor Rockstar has said GTA 6 will join Xbox Game Pass for its November 19 release. Xbox’s official GTA 6 page leads to a pre-order, and the Xbox Store listing sells the game as two separate editions.
The free month of GTA+ that comes with a digital pre-order doesn’t change that: GTA+ is Rockstar’s subscription, not Game Pass.
Is GTA 6 on Game Pass at launch?
Not according to anything published. Xbox’s official page for the game shows the release date, the Xbox Series X|S platform and a pre-order button. The Store listing offers the Standard Edition at $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition at $99.99, each with a pre-order button and no Game Pass offer. Take-Two’s announcement names the Microsoft Store among the places to buy the game.
Whether GTA 6 arrives in Game Pass later is a separate question, and nobody can answer it yet: no date and no plan have been named. A confident “yes, later” would be a forecast, and so would a confident “never”.
Why a pre-order and the GTA+ bonus don’t mean Game Pass
On the Xbox Store listing, GTA 6 is a separate purchase. The pre-order bonus there is a month of GTA+, which Rockstar offers under its own terms, while Xbox Game Pass belongs to Microsoft. Sharing the word “subscription” doesn’t make them interchangeable.
- A pre-order button for GTA 6 confirms you can buy the game on Xbox. It doesn’t confirm access through a Game Pass plan.
- A month of GTA+ in the bonuses confirms that Rockstar attached its own offer to the pre-order. It doesn’t put GTA 6 in Game Pass.
- A mention of Xbox Series X|S confirms the game launches on those consoles. It says nothing about free or subscription access.
The GTA+ month has deadlines of its own (fact in the registry): on Xbox you redeem it within 180 days of the pre-order. On PlayStation the deadline is March 31, 2027, and the subscription then renews monthly until you cancel. Rockstar says GTA+ also gives access to GTA V and other classic Rockstar games through its own Games Library.
Prices and availability depend on your store region. The US listing shows dollar prices, so check the listing in the region of your own account.
Could GTA 6 come to Game Pass later?
No plans for after launch have been announced. The hope is understandable, since GTA V has been in the catalog, but GTA V’s history doesn’t set a schedule for GTA 6. GTA V returned to Game Pass on April 15, 2025 and left again on April 15, 2026, in both its Enhanced and Legacy versions (fact in the registry). If Microsoft and Rockstar do agree to add the new game, they will have to give a date, a plan and the countries.
Where to check the status before launch
Open the official GTA 6 listing in the Xbox Store for the region of your account. If the game is in Game Pass, the listing says so and names the plan. If you see only a price and a pre-order button, treat access through a subscription as unconfirmed. Then check Xbox and Rockstar news close to the launch date.
For any report about a subscription, check the date and the original source first. Search still returns pages written when the release date was different, and their predictions may be out of date. Rockstar now lists November 19, 2026 and the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S platforms.
If an announcement does come, check four things: the day the game arrives, the plan, the countries, and whether it covers GTA 6 itself rather than GTA V or the GTA+ bonus. Until you have those, putting off a subscription purchase for GTA 6 makes more sense than relying on a guess.
