The GTA 6 box leaked in Mexico matches Rockstar’s $400 Collector’s Box

Update, September 28: on September 24 Rockstar announced a GTA 6 Collector’s Box, and it looks like the box from these photos. The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection costs $399.99, ships on November 19 and doesn’t include the game (what’s inside).

What the leak got right and wrong

• Right: a large black box with the VI logo on the front and “Vice City Leonida” on the lid
• Right: several compartments inside; the official box has a tray and two drawers
• Wrong: there is no disc, and the game isn’t in the box at all
• Unconfirmed: that the boxes were packed by Unique Services Group in Mexico; Rockstar doesn’t name its manufacturer

What the photos showed

On September 9, X user @Alexi0982 posted pictures of black boxes with the VI logo and the words “Vice City Leonida,” including a pallet stacked with them, and deleted them soon after. He also showed an employee badge from Unique Services Group, a packaging company in Mexico.

What he claimed

• He spent about a month packing the boxes and signed no NDA
• The box is bigger than a PS5 box and has several compartments inside
• A round insert made him think there is a disc inside
• Production runs until November, and boxes are already shipping worldwide

The press kit theory

Before the announcement, some observers thought a box that size fit a press or promo kit better than a product for stores (IBTimes UK). It turned out to be a product for fans, priced at five times the Standard Edition of the game.

The editions of the game haven’t changed: Standard and Ultimate, and the boxed version holds a download code (details).
