If you watch the GTA 6 Extended Look on Bilibili, a popular YouTube-like video site in China, parts of it are blurred. The GTAForums user BDF posted comparison screenshots, and Kotaku confirmed the censored version on Rockstar’s official channel on September 4.
What’s blurred
According to Kotaku, the edits hide suggestive dancing, bloody bodies, underwear and smoking. In one scene, as Jason walks through a nightclub, nearly the whole frame is blurred.
When it changed
Rockstar first uploaded the Extended Look to Bilibili without edits. That version stayed up until August 31 and was then replaced. The first two trailers on the same channel remain uncensored, and Rockstar’s website in China shows the full gameplay video with Chinese subtitles.
What we don’t know
Why only this video was edited is unclear. Kotaku asked Rockstar for comment, and its report doesn’t include an answer. BDF also claims that Take-Two is getting uncensored re-uploads removed; that claim hasn’t been confirmed.
