GTA 6 boxed copies on PS5: which countries each code works in

The GTA 6 box is a download code, not a disc (fact), and on PS5 that code only works with an account from the right part of the world. Sony has published the compatibility table: there are 12 regional versions of the box, and the region is printed on the back (fact).

The 12 regions

• Europe (excluding the UK and Germany): Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine
• Germany
• United Kingdom
• USA and Canada
• Latin America (excluding Brazil): Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay
• Brazil
• Australia and New Zealand
• Japan
• South Korea
• Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia
• Saudi Arabia
• United Arab Emirates

What decides whether a code works

The country of your PlayStation account, not where you are. A code bought in the UK won’t work on an Irish account, and a US code won’t work on a UK one. An account’s country can’t be changed after it is created (fact), so check the back of the box before you buy, especially from a shop abroad. Each code works once.

Xbox is simpler: Rockstar says Xbox codes for GTA 6 aren’t region-locked (Rockstar Support, fact). Digital copies bought in the PlayStation Store or the Microsoft Store aren’t affected by any of this. Boxes reach stores from November 12; how the code-in-box download works is in will GTA 6 come on a disc.
